FOMMC (not FOMO)
Hi there, Reader! The open road calls! This summer, I've hit the highway in my van to my old home: Indiana, where I grew up, where I raised my kids, and where they still reside. I taught Introduction to Sound Healing: A Hands-On Experience in Kansas City, MO, on the 6th. My next workshop is July 11-13: Sound Healing with Crystal Singing Bowl in Bloomington, IN. Before I left, I had to make a huge decision. I had been planning since February when I got my van to bring my kitties on this adventure. But there was a tiny, furry, purring hitch in my plan: my cats staying in the van in 90+ degree weather would be impossible. And, I'm not quite ready to invest in an extra air conditioner to use when I couldn't have the car engine with the AC running for them. Let me tell you, the reason the decision was so hard to make was because I've got a serious case of FOMMC (Fear Of Missing My Cats) and those kitty cuddles at night! Every van-camping traveler dreams of bringing their beloved pets along. And believe me, I really thought hard about it – I even purchased the little hammock and a tent-like collapsible catio. But for my particular feline overlord and overlady, the reality of van traveling & camping in this HEAT just isn't their jam. They're more "cat-tree napping, squirrel-watching from a static porch, and demanding endless snacks (!) on their own schedule" kind of cats. So, the tough decision was made: this summer's van adventures will be a solo human endeavor. You might think I'd be worried about FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) on some epic human experience by not having my adventure buddies with me. But honestly? My FOMMC is way stronger. The thought of them being anything less than perfectly content weighs far more heavily than missing out on a shared roadside attraction. Knowing they'll be safe, cool, and cared for by a trusted sitter brings a peace that even the most epic mountain view can't provide. Their comfort and happiness come first. Plus, absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? I'll be soaking up every moment of my journey, knowing that a triumphant, purr-filled reunion (and probably some serious guilt-tripping headbutts) awaits me at the end of the road. Wish me luck (and send cat memes to ease the FOMMC)! Molly Adkins Business Mentor for Sound Healing Practitioners |
